UN Women Egypt Internship | HR Intern

Job Description

UN Women regional office supports its presence across the Arab States. Under the daily supervision of the HR Associate, the Human Resources (HR) Intern is responsible for administratively and logistically supporting the recruitment and placement, administration of the benefits and entitlements of staff and local external contractors, other HR administration issues and separation of personal.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

  • Implement HR policies and procedures in RO in full compliance with UN Women rules, regulations, and HR policies and guidelines:

  • Provide support to HR recruitment processes: organize interviews, panels, renting of laptops,.etc., including logistical preparations, preparation of reports, ..etc;

  • Follow up on candidate’s vendor and soliciting of references and P11s;

  • Follow up on contracts after being signed by UN WOMEN Director to ensure completion of processes (including PO and vendor creations by colleagues);

  • Administer interns’ agreements for Associate review and OM clearance and ensure compilations of intern’s requirements on file;

  • Draft HR communications such as HR letters, written response to queries concerning HR related matters, and apology emails to candidates who were not selected;

  • Collection of background information/ documents on candidates as required;

  • Maintenance of proper filing system for all HR recruitments;

  • Submit SSA payments and new entry medical examination AP forms for newly-hired staff members;

  • Assistance in organizing the trainings for the operations/projects staff on HR related matters;

  • Assistance provided on HR briefing to newly hired staff;

  • Collect and Maintain HR information in full compliance with UN Women rules, regulations, and HR policies and guidelines;

  • Maintain and update internal database and files on administrative HR matters in a confidential and secure manner;

  • Print and file the mandatory certificates for each staff and assist in the update of information on the excel sheet (dates of modules completion).


Job Requirements

    Education:

  • The intern must have studies in HR, and/or Business Administration or other similar subject at the university level;

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);

  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);

  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

  • Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;

  • Working knowledge of another UN language a distinct advantage, French will be a strong Asset.

UN Women Egypt Internship | Coordination Intern

Job Description

UN Women Regional Office for Arab States in Cairo requires an intern to support the coordination activities included in the ROAS Annual Work Plan. The intern will be part of the UN Women Regional Office team in Cairo and will work under the direct supervision of the Coordination Specialist.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision and directly reporting to the Coordination Specialist, the candidate is expected to

  • Review current UN Development Assistance Frameworks (UNDAF) and Common Country Assessments (CCA) in the Arab States region to identify gaps and opportunities for UN Women to invest in technical support to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in accordance with national development priorities;

  • Design (a) a tracking system and (b) capacity-development network for former participants in the Women from the Arab States, Leadership and the UN training workshops convened by UN Women in partnership with the R-UNSDG and UNSSC;

  • Design a questionnaire to be circulated to previous participants and relevant Regional Directors to measure the impact of the training on the staff members’ readiness for leadership positions.

Learning objectives

The intern will be exposed to and increase his / her awareness and understanding of the UN Development System, particularly UN reform, strategic planning, and the role of UN Women to support gender equality and women’s empowerment integration through leveraging its UN Coordination mandate.

UN Women Egypt Internship | Translation and Communication Intern

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision and guidance of the Communications Unit, the intern will be responsible for assisting the communications team in various tasks. The intern will hold the following responsibilities

  • Translate and /or review texts from English into Arabic;

  • Support in writing and editing communications materials in Arabic;

  • Translate and/or review communications materials for Facebook and Twitter posts;

  • Translate/produce subtitles in Arabic for audiovisual materials;

  • Translate stories, reports and minutes of meetings from English into Arabic;

  • Support translating and reviewing the Arabic updated content of the website;

  • Support the communication unit in translating and adapting communication packages from English into Arabic;

  • Any other related tasks to support the Communications unit.


Job Requirements

    Education:

  • The intern must have studies in Translation or Mass Communications, Communication, Linguistics, Journalism, Political Science or other similar subject at the university level;

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);

  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent)

  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

  • Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Arabic are required;

  • Working knowledge of French is a distinct advantage.

  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and experience in handling of web-based management system.

  • Language:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required
